Thinking about that one Gundam Wing 1x2 fic we read where it just turned into "100 reasons Relena needs to be unalived" for like 4 chapters before the last chapter randomly returns to the 1x2 plot and then abruptly ending on a cliffhanger and an author's note that said something along the lines of "so I'm on new meds and starting College and I'm a feminist now and we should really take down the government if DOMA doesn't pass" 😵‍💫

I'm forever obsessed by the big contrast that is that Anakin is universally percieved like a dog or a dragon (for obvious reasons, it fits him!), obviously I mostly mean by the fandom, but in-universe there's lots of dragon comparisons.

But Padmé is the only character ever to compare him to an animal (a feline) that's universally considered as very independent, stealthy and regal, and like it is so jarring and out of the blue after being sold into the dragon-dog agenda that at first it doesn't make sense, but then again Padmé's the character that knew Anakin the most and it was Anakin's only relationship with not strange power dynamics attached to it and I think there's some beautiful and a very interesting comment to make about it.

I think the Ratiorine fandom really moved on too fast from the fact that Hoyo chose "charming audacity" and "dear gambler" as the first words players would hear from Ratio to Aventurine. Not the second scene. Not the third. The very first sentence players ever hear between those two.

And you know what, we also moved on much too quickly from the next scene too. Ratio was the one to start the whole "Aventurine is a peacock" thing. Why are you sitting around thinking about what alien animals your coworker reminds you of, Veritas? The joke is supposed to be that peacocks are noisy, but then they just drop that like a hot rock so the camera can do a slow pan on Aventurine's chest and Ratio can comment on Aventurine's clothing choices. Since when does Dr. Ratio care what people wear? Why were you looking?! Fellas, is it gay to compare your partner in crime to the symbol of male beauty???

I'll never understand why we're still on this "Kikyou died to be with Inuyasha" vibe when the only one who said this is Naraku. Kikyou never even implies as much. In fact she kind of implies the opposite since as soon as she was revived she told Inuyasha this:

I wonder what happened between Maritte and Silka after the gamemakers incident.. The fact that Maritte just killed that gamemaker without question? Making fun of Silka for chasing a dream of winning? Considering joining Maysilee and Haymitch?

I don‘t know this sort of talk and behaviour is very rebellious.

Before my reread I wondered if Silka might have actually killed Maritte for this behaviour, to prove to the capitol that she did not agree with her actions and she then cried under the tree from guilt.

But no. It was the squirrels. Silka had to watch Maritte die the same way Haymitch had to watch Ampert go. It was probably even worse for Silka. She was there for the start of it. And she‘d KNOW Maritte was targeted, the mutts ignoring Silka.

Maybe seeing that, she lost faith. Maybe, seeing that, her belief in the glory of the capitol was shaken. But she had to continue. If she didn‘t hunt Haymitch and Wellie like the good little career she was conditioned and bred to be… she could be next.

She finds their tree. But she doesn‘t try to find a way to force them out. She doesn‘t throw an axe at them. She just collapses. And cries.

And then Haymitch drops the chocolate. And she disappears in the morning. Was she considering not killing them? For just a moment? It could just be that she wanted to give them the chance to come down so she could kill them (like she ultimately did) but maybe… she needed a moment to clear her head, clear out the conflicting emotions. I think she was tired of the killing.

She finds her way back and Wellie lifts the darts and Silka‘s training kicks in.

Haymitch returns and shouts at her. And she is defensive about killing Wellie. „She was trying to kill me!“ The unspoken continuation here is „I wouldn‘t have done it if she hadn‘t threatened me.“

But Haymitch‘s eyes are filled with rage and horror, and she‘s holding the head of a helpless starving girl. So she reverts. To what she was trained for. What her mindset has been this entire time. It‘s easier. It‘s safer. It‘s familiar. She is going to win these games for the glory of the capitol. Like she always said she would.
